The viral cucumber salad, you know, one of those trends of the moment. Just like the cottage cheese wrap and the cruffins. Something someone invents and goes completely wild on social media. So viral, or “viraal” in Dutch.
I usually say that I’m not that sensitive to viral things, or trends, but secretly I do join in quite often. But I do it by putting my own spin on it. And I have to honestly admit that it’s also worth joining in.
That certainly applies to this cucumber salad as well. Cucumbers are in high demand here; it’s no joke that we go through five a week. The kids take it to school, my hubby in his lunch salads, with dinner, and it’s also great as a snack.
The salad has already popped up on my timeline several times. Both on Facebook, Instagram & Pinterest. I’m crazy about cucumber, especially the kind you get with wok dishes or better tapas/japas. That sweet and sour, or spicy kind, I could eat bowls of it.

So, high time to try it myself. You don’t need much, no fancy knife skills, just a knife, cheese slicer, grater, or mandoline and a container with a lid. Of course, the cucumber and whatever you like, shake it all up, and voilà!
Below you’ll find how I like to make the viral cucumber salad. And I almost lick my fingers clean 😉
